In the past, whenever Mrs. Weiner would pay a visit to her son in New York—from her home in Schenectady—Marc would get his pal Amanda to pretend to be his girlfriend. During Mrs. Weiner's most recent visit, Amanda, reacting to one of Marc's insults, said that Betty was Marc's current girlfriend. The Suarez family was enlisted to play along with the ruse, but after hearing his mother insult Betty's family, Marc decided to be honest and admit that he is gay. Mrs. Weiner did not take the news very well and she basically severed their relationship at that moment.Template:Characters
