Austin was one of Justin Suarez's fellow students in Lena Korvinka's acting class. He began a rivalry with Justin over a girl in their acting class. Following one of their class's performances, the two shared an unexpected kiss after the curtain fell. Justin and Austin date secretly, with Justin's stepfather-to-be seeing them sharing a kiss at the front door of the Suarez house. Austin is very patient with Justin and deals with his sexuality. Austin attends Hilda's wedding as Justin's date and the two dance together.
